To quote the great Yogi Berra “It’s Déjà Vu
all over again”. Last Summer I wrote an article about
a bond passing and many SOA members retiring. Well, hear
we are in 2010 and again a bond has passed and many SOA
members are retiring. It looks like we will be going
through another time of changes and promotions. I’m
sure we will be hearing about many “Last Day”
parties, as well as many many retirement parties. To
anyone retiring this Fall, remember to get your life
insurance in order and if you have SOA life insurance
please contact me to go over the policy changes that
occur once you retire.
Speaking
of retirements, I attended Chief Karen O’Callaghan’s
party at the Oheka castle last month and I must say it
was a big one. Nearly 500 people attended, which I’m
sure strained the staff but they were up to the task and
the party was a great success. I’d like to
congratulate Karen on a great career and wish her
continued success at her new position at Hofstra
University.
We’ve said goodbye to a few other retirees from
this Spring. I’d like to congratulate and say good-by
to John Marschhauser, Patricia Scalzo, Lucy Graziano as
well as Marc Louie. Enjoy your retirement.
In other news we have recently completed a will
signing day at the SOA office. Several lawyers from
Feldman, Kramer and Monaco were here at the SOA office
finalizing Will’s which were drawn up several months
ago. Remember this firm offers many legal services to
our members in addition to Wills and Health Care
Proxy’s. They also do Home Closings, Document reviews
and will write Legal Letters on your behalf. This firm
also has a 24 hour Emergency Hotline (800) 292-8063.
Lastly I’d like to remind everyone that our
golf outing is coming up fast. This year’s outing is
September 15th at the Bethpage Blue course,
with a 1:30 shotgun start. Registration at the course is
12:00 with dinner, cocktails and raffle prizes from
19:00 to 22:00 hours. We have already had a positive
response and are nearly booked up. The summer is flying
by fast so I would suggest submitting your foursomes
along with your payment as soon as possible.
